A paired bridge moves the network between two fixed outdoor points. Plan the far-end access point, switch, Ethernet, power, weather protection, grounding, and indoor coverage separately.

Can you install a wired path?

Get a qualified fiber/conduit quote when digging and building entry are practical. Do not casually run inter-building copper without checking electrical, grounding, surge, code, and installation requirements.

Can the two radios see each other?

Stand at both mounting points. A clean, fixed path matters more than the advertised kilometer ceiling. Trees, walls, roof lines, metal, and terrain are not small details.

How much real throughput is needed?

Add the internet plan, video calls, cameras, cloud backup, uploads, and simultaneous users. CPE450 has 100Mbps Ethernet ports; CPE688 publishes Gigabit ports.

What serves devices at the far end?

Budget the access point or router, switch ports, indoor Ethernet, mounting, weather-rated cable, power, and configuration. The bridge itself may not provide useful indoor Wi-Fi.

What is the best way to get internet to a detached garage?

A properly designed wired fiber run is the strongest starting point when trenching, conduit, permits, grounding, and installation are practical. When a cable run is not practical and the two buildings have a clean line of sight, a paired point-to-point wireless bridge is the no-trench path to compare. Ordinary indoor extenders only repeat the signal they can already receive.

Does a wireless bridge create Wi-Fi inside the garage?

Not necessarily. Treat the bridge as a virtual Ethernet cable between buildings. The remote bridge normally feeds an Ethernet device, switch, router, or access point that provides local wired ports or Wi-Fi inside the garage.

Do not plan around the maximum-distance number when the radio path is blocked. Trees, seasonal foliage, walls, roofs, metal siding, terrain, misalignment, weather, and nearby 5GHz interference can reduce speed or reliability. The two outdoor units should face each other with a clear path.
